I’m Hannah and I’m so glad you’re here. I bake rustic, seasonally inspired cakes from my cottage kitchen micro-bakery in Albemarle County, just outside Charlottesville, Virginia.
Every cake is made completely from scratch—no shortcuts, just real ingredients and a whole lot of care - and “joie” as the French say. Whether you're celebrating something big or just want to make an ordinary day feel a little more special, there's always a reason to have cake. Around here, we follow the seasons, savor the process, and bake with joy.
About Me
I’m a self-taught cake maker living in the Virginia countryside, where I find inspiration in the seasons, the beauty of nature, and the rhythm of slower living. After many years working in the renewable energy industry, I found myself craving a creative outlet during early motherhood—and baking became just that. What started as a simple joy quickly grew into something more. I’m a francophile at heart, and the name Cake Joie came to me because joie means joy in French—a perfect reflection of what baking has brought into my life. Every cake I make is thoughtfully designed, made completely from scratch, and filled with the same joy I felt when this all began.
